On January 18, our Idente Youth had an ice-skating trip to Lasker Rink in Central Park. Together with Idente Youth in Santa Maria, we had more than 30 teens and kids. We enjoyed not only skating in the Rink but also building our friendships. We would like to welcome more teens and kids in our next trips. Also, last Wednesday we had an amazing discussion about love, based on 1st Corinthians 13. We talked about our weaknesses in loving others, and made up our mind to transform our selfishness into love. If you are interested in our Idente Youth activities, join us this Wednesday at 6:00pm at St. Dominic's church. For more info, please visit our website: www.identeyouth.us. - Bro. Michael

Our Idente Youth Teens had a great turnout in our first Wednesday, 1/6/2016, meeting with a good number of participants and richness of our topic. We discussed healthy communication. We learned about paying attention to people who are speaking to us. Sometimes, phones or selfishness do not nurture in-person communication. We realized that it is important to make our best efforts to make our conversation more creative, active and flowing. Thanks! Last Sunday, our Idente Youth Teens in Hempstead, Long Island hosted their very first Athenaeum (a cultural and artistic gathering) in Our Lady of Loretto Church. Our teens from Hempstead enthusiastically welcomed our Idente Youth members who traveled from the Bronx and from Brentwood, Long Island. The teens shared their talents with family and friends through music, dance, and skits. Special thanks to everyone who joined us last Sunday and for making it special! Last Saturday our Idente Youth Teens prepared for their play for Atheneum (cultural artistic performance). They worked together on making a script and practiced the play. The Atheneum is going to be hosted by Idente Youth from Our Lady of Loreto in Long Island on the 22nd of November. All the Idente Youth groups in New York are going to have a get-together and enjoy sharing one another's talent. Our Idente Youth Teens watched a film, ‘Homeless to Harvard’ together, a true story of a girl from the Bronx who overcame many obstacles. Despite living homeless without her parents who neglected her, she worked hard to attend and excel in high school, and eventually enter Harvard University on a full scholarship. Our teens learned from the film that it is important to have someone in our life who guide us in the right path. They also shared that we are more than our difficult circumstances and with God's help, we can overcome them and become stronger. Beginning this week, our teens meeting (6th to 11th grade) will move to a new day and time: Saturdays from 11:00am to 12:30pm at St. Dominic's. For Idente Youth Kids (3rd to 5th grade) there will be no change in their weekly meetings. This week, our Idente Youth teens focused on improving their relationships with family and friends. In groups, the teens reflected on their own relationships using quotes from Gandhi, Einstein, Newton and Confucius. The teens concluded that spending time with the other person (bonding), being generous, and frequent communication are great ways of strengthening their relationships. Our next meeting will focus on overcoming feelings of depression, isolation, and loneliness in order to strengthen our relationships with others. We hope to see you next Thursday, Oct. 15 at St. Dominic's! Idente Youth teens in the Bronx discussed the topic of relationships based on the New Testament. During the meeting, the teens were asked to make mind maps using four words: relationship, dating, friendship and marriage. The teens then arranged these words according to what they thought should come first. All agreed that friendships should be prior to romantic relationships, dating and marriage. After the mind maps, they discussed as a group some quotes and advice about romantic relationship from the New Testament. The teens concluded the meeting by committing themselves to seek truthful relationships with other people. Special thanks to Leon and Jean, the friends of Edward, who joined us for their first IY meeting! Welcome!
Next week Idente Youth is planning to have a seminar on relationships with family and friends. We look forward to seeing you there! Idente Youth members in the Bronx met on Thursday (in Morris Park) and Friday (in Zerega) to discuss the best way to deal with worries and the future. After coming up with a long list of worries that people experience, they concluded that while thinking of the future, we must give the best of ourselves, in the present, to the people around us (who also have worries). Below are group photos from our two meetings: Our next two meetings in the Bronx will be Thursday, August 13 at St. Dominic's Rectory and Friday, August 14 at Santa Maria Parish Hall © 2015 Idente Youth U.S
