Our Idente Youth teens meeting, in the Bronx, was lively! The topic of the meeting centered on music that we listen to and the importance of paying attention to the song's lyrics / message. The teens shared that they often like a song because of its beat but forget to pay attention to the lyrics and message. Often times, the messages of songs can have mixed messages and promote vices such as drugs, sex, the objectification of women and the vain pursuit of fame / money. We agreed to continue discussing this important topic next week and we welcome teens (6th to 12th graders) to join us! Our meeting will be next Wednesday at 6:00pm at Saint Dominic's. Hope you can join us! - Brother Pjeter
Hey Friends!
Thank you to all that made it to our last IY meeting. The topic of discussion was “Decision Making.” Below were some of the questions we reflected on · What is the most difficult decision you have made and why? How did you make it? · How has God guided you to make holy choices in your life? · What is the formula to make a good decision? Please note that we will not have IY meeting on Sat, 13 Feb. The topic of discussion was “Chastity.” Johnny and James were courageous enough to make a dynamic presentation on this hot subject. Kudos to both our heroes J Some of the questions we battled included: (1) The definition of chastity. (2) Is sex a gift or a pleasure giving activity. (3) Is abstinence possible or relevant in today’s society. (4) The consequence when sex is misused. Simple Definition: Chastity is synonymous with sexual purity. Chastity means not having any sexual relations before marriage. It also means fidelity to husband or wife during marriage. Below are some beautiful quotes on the subject “Deep within yourself, listen to your conscience which calls you to be pure . . . a home is not warmed by the fire of pleasure which burns quickly like a pile of withered grass. Passing encounters are only a caricature of love; they injure hearts and mock God’s plan.” – Pope John Paul II “To be pure, to remain pure, can only come at a price, the price of knowing God and loving him enough to do his will. He will always give us the strength we need to keep purity as something as beautiful for him.” – Mother Teresa “Only the chaste man and the chaste woman are capable of true love.” – Pope John Paul II |
