Hi Everyone. Last Wednesday in Idente Youth Kids meeting the children had a special guest that would introduce the children to music and what it truly is about. Having the children close their eyes while they hear a piece of a song and some said the music represents love and peace. The speaker said, "Sometime Music has feeling from experiences based on certain sounds". Showing how one sound can be made into music and also using a number of them to sing one note to use rhythm and melody in order to compose a song. They learnt the three rules of music: rhythm, melody and harmony.

Hey Everyone! Our meeting was very interesting as we watched a movie 'St. Joseph Cupertino'. As we talked about the film, many kids said that many people did not treat him nicely but St. Joseph Cupertino did not mind their actions even if they had fought him. Some said, "He does not believe in fighting" and the reason was that violence going back to another would make the situation worse. We learned that even if he had a miserable life that he is grateful because he is alive as God wants him to be. The memorable moment we agreed upon was when he treated a woman and her bayby very nicely as he gave her a blanket and food for her and the baby, even if he had to give it for free. Hello, everyone! Last Wednesday, we had game, presentation and video. We played game that involves critical thinking as our group needs to name a food, country, animal, fruit, person’s name, country/city/continent, and a brand based on a chosen alphabet letter. Everyone was very excited to say their answers hoping to get a unique answer in the group. Then, we showed the presentation about how certain rulers like Hitler used violence to create their own peace but also about the other rulers like Martin Luther King who use non-violence to create peace and were successful. After that, we saw two videos. One is a clip of Jackie Chan’s movie showing how he fights with two people for something they want but the children know a good solution to the problems, which was to have peaceful communication and dialogue with each other. The other video was about two boys that get along with each other even though their own countries are at war. The children learnt how they slowly accept and give each other and become close, regardless of the conflict of their countries. Hello! We had a great meeting last Wednesday. We appreciate those who were present and attentive to the meeting. In this month our topic is to know more about what Idente Youth is. Michael tried to bring out uniqueness of Idente Youth. He asked about its difference from catechism and sports group. While we were able to find out its difference from sports group, we were not able to distinguish Idente Youth from catechism. We learnt that Idente Youth is open to not only Catholics but also people from different religions including people who do not believe in God. So, if you have friends from different religions, please do not hesitate to invite them to our meeting. Thank you. IY Kids Last Wednesday, we got to know more about what Idente Youth is. Based on this, we made a poster about different chapters of Idente Youth in the world, meanings of its symbols and Idente Youth values. The purpose of the poster was to inform them of the purpose of our weekly meeting and the sense of belonging to the whole Idente Youth in the world. Then, some of us shared their resolution to live out Idente Youth values. IY Teens Our teens discussed how to defend human life and its sacredness from conception to natural death. Next week, our teens plan to share examples of music, art, and videos that defend and showcase the beauty of human life. IY Kids News Last Wednesday our topic was about trust. We heard situations where people who do not trust each other and discussed how to handle the situations with trust. For example, in a situation our friends do not listen to us, some of say that we should ignore them but we learn that we should keep caring for our friends even though not listening to us. IY Teens News Our Idente Youth teens discussed the culture of death and how to go against it. We spoke about the beauty of human life and how throughout history people have tried to attack it by promoting abortion, euthanasia, bullying, and other forms of violence. Our teens committed themselves to protecting all human life from the moment of conception to natural death. IY Kids Last Wednesday our kids did their own skits. We had discussion about how to understand and help the other persons who are in difficulties. And, last Monday, we had trip to the Bronx Zoo. We enjoyed seeing the animals and the nature. Also, we shared our friendship with one another. IY Teens What is true love? Our teens had a great discussion on unconditional love. True love, we concluded, is self-sacrificial, always placing the needs of the others before one's own needs. We reflected on the example that Christ gave us and how we can always love more each day. We also had an amazing bowling trip on President's Day! Last Wednesday our kids played some games about trusting one another which was guided by our friend Eduardo. Also, our Kids were so excited to discuss about the virtue of trusting one another. We also watched a short clip of the Parable Prodigal son from the Bible. We genuinely believe that a small seed of trust is enough to grow great love between two people. "Without Confidence and Love there can be no True Education" - St.Don Bosco Last Sunday our Idente Youth in the Bronx had a very successful bake sale for our Idente Youth summer camp! We thank all of our Idente Youth members and their families for their donations of baked goods. We also thank each of our parishioners for their generous donations. All the proceeds raised will go toward our youth group and summer camp. Thanks to your generous donations, many teens and kids will enjoy a great summer camp. Stay tuned for photos of our camp in July! Thanks again! God bless you. The summer Camp is going to start on July 12 and finishes on July 16.. Thank you so much!!!On June 16th, IY kids in the Bronx showed a film titled "Children of Heaven", filmed in Iran, that continued with our monthly theme on Giving and Helping others. This movie was jam packed with daily examples of how a young poor boy tries to help his younger sister after having lost her only pair of shoes. The sacrifices he goes through develops into a very interesting drama! Don't forget to join us next session to watch the end of this fascinating film. At the end of the meeting the children were encouraged to participate in the annual Idente Youth Summer Camp with the demonstration of some of the pictures from the last year summer camp. Once again thanks to all the kids who gave extraordinary reflection on the movie to all the kids. |
