Hey Friends, Thank you to all of you that made it to today’s IY meeting. The topic of discussion was “Time Management.” We had a great time doing the fun group activities prepared by Nathalie related to time management. Below were some of the items touched upon in the presentation How can I manage time better: 1. Make a to-do list every day. 2. Keep your work with you. 3. Don’t be afraid to say NO. 4. Find your productive time. 5. Create a dedicated study time. 6. Budget your time. 7. Don’t get side-tracked. 8. Get a good night’s sleep. We also discussed about our upcoming fundraiser- CAR WASH 8:30am to 2:30pm on Sun, Jun 26. Please keep yourself free on this day to help IY raise money for the summer camp. Please have your family and friends get their cars to our CAR WASH. Our next IY meeting is 10am Sat, Jun 25 at the Lower rectory. On June 16th, IY kids in the Bronx showed a film titled "Children of Heaven", filmed in Iran, that continued with our monthly theme on Giving and Helping others. This movie was jam packed with daily examples of how a young poor boy tries to help his younger sister after having lost her only pair of shoes. The sacrifices he goes through develops into a very interesting drama! Don't forget to join us next session to watch the end of this fascinating film. At the end of the meeting the children were encouraged to participate in the annual Idente Youth Summer Camp with the demonstration of some of the pictures from the last year summer camp. Once again thanks to all the kids who gave extraordinary reflection on the movie to all the kids. Last Wednesday our Idente Youth teens in the Bronx discussed the unfortunate phenomena that some people do not take God or their faith seriously. They may for example, take the name of God in vain; by saying “Oh my God”, or use the expression, “I swear to God” to only superficially make people believe in their words. We found out that these happen because of ignorance about who God actually is. For this reason, we took some time to share our questions about God, including the questions other people have or that we sometimes have doubts about. We hope that we continue to strengthen our belief and faith in God and that you can join us for our next teens' meeting this Wednesday at 6:00pm at St. Dominic's Church. The topic of discussion was “Friendship.” We reflect on the below scripture quotation 1 John 2: 9-11 Whoever says he is in the light, yet hates his brother, is still in the darkness. Whoever loves his brother remains in the light, and there is nothing in him to cause a fall. Whoever hates his brother is in darkness; he walks in darkness and does not know where he is going because the darkness has blinded his eyes. 1. What do the words “light” and “darkness” symbolize? 2. Who are my brothers & sisters? 3. Is it right to hate my brothers and sisters (if we have one Heavenly Father)? Appreciate all the creativity you showed in putting up the short skits. Our next IY meeting will be 10am Sat, Jun 18 at the Lower Rectory. Hey Friends, Last Wednesday our Idente Youth teens in the Bronx discussed the benefits of studying. While sometimes we feel that studying in school is difficult and tiring, we later tend to see how important it was to study. We begin to see that studying improves our knowledge, our personality and even our faith. The teens learned that we have to give our best when we study and this means that we avoid wasting our time. Many things can distract us, so we have to ask God to help us stay focused. Hope you can join us for our next teens' meeting this Wednesday at 6:00pm at St. Dominic's Church. For more information, please call us at (347) 948-3122 or check out our website:www.identeyouth.us. Thanks! Hey Friends, Thank you to all of you that made it to today’s special IY meeting hosted to welcome the confirmation students. The topic of discussion was “Creativity.” We worked in groups to come up with creative solutions to the problem – “How to get commuters in a subway station to use the stairs more than the escalator,” and act out physical objects and actions in the “Human Object” activity. We also heard an inspiring talk by Julie Burstien, who through her stories highlighted the importance of embracing four aspects of our life in order to allow creativity to flourish. Embrace your CELL (Challenges, Experience, Limitations, Loss) For creativity to flourish [requires] the embrace of loss, the oldest and most constant of human experiences. - Julie Burstien, Author of "Spark: How Creativity Works" Our next IY meeting is on Sat, Jun 11 at 10am in our usual location (Lower Rectory). Have a wonderful weekend! |
