Hello Everyone! Thank you for attending today’s meeting. The topic of our seminar was “Prayer.” We learnt that prayer is more than going to mass on a Sunday. It is like a conversation that we have with our best friend, prayer is like air to our body. How do we pray?: Say Hello, Be yourself, learn from Christ, Embrace silence, keep it alive, practice. Let us today take on the challenge to make prayer part of our everyday lives. Our next meeting: 10am Sat, Jan 21 at Our Lady of Loretto Church. Have a wonderful weekend!

Hello Everyone, We had a fantastic beginning to the new year. Our guest speaker was Don Sunit, a civil engineer all the way from Bangalore, India. He spoke to us a little bit about his profession, and narrated an amazing story. The message was simple, God whispers to us every day however if he is not able to capture our attention (primarily because of our distractions) he throws a brick at us. Let us not wait for God to throw a brick at us, but instead respond positively to him every day by doing little acts of kindness (For example: saying “Hello” and “Thank You”) towards our neighbours. The year 2016 has been exceptional for the group: new members, camps, trips, service projects, game day, celebrations, musical skit etc… If you missed any of it or want to relive the memories, here is a quick video: https://flic.kr/p/PV1HZ1 Please join us as we look forward to an exciting 2017. Our next meeting: 10am Sat, Jan 14 at Our Lady of Loretto Church. See you soon. Thank you to everyone that attended our special Christmas Celebrations. The celebration included games, music, talk, and food. Our deepest gratitude goes out to all the parents that contributed with the food. As mentioned in our brief talk, lets become better “gift givers.” This is possible only if we imitate Christ, who for humanities sake gave up his life on the cross. The Role Model of IY: CHRIST Merry Christmas again…. A Big “Thank you” to all of you that made it to the Game day and Thanksgiving Luncheon. Monopoly, Sorry, Jenga, Game of Life, Uno, Yhatzee, Connect 4, Video Games … you name it, we had it (almost). The food was, without a doubt, delicious. Our heartfelt gratitude to all the mom’s that prepared and donated the dishes. Below are some photos….Have a wonderful weekend! Hello Everyone, Today was very fun. We got to play assassin and found all of the assassins!. As well, we learned more today about classical music and touch briefly upon the most well known composer in classical music (Mozart, Beethoven and Franz Schubert). Also, as a reminder, if you can, please come to help out for the festival tomorrow to sell beverages to the parishioners. Have a Blessed Day! Hello Everyone, Today we watch the movie: Letters, the movie about the life of St. Theresa of Calcutta and her calling to live amongst the poor of Calcutta as one of their own. I hope that it has given you much inspiration and that you feel moved to reflect on your own calling given to you by God. Attached to this file are the Questions Floriselda wrote down for us to consider about the movie. Also do not forget that next week we are having the field day. Have a Blessed day and hope to see you all next week. THE LETTERSMOTHER TERESA, recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, is considered one of the greatest humanitarians of modern times. Her selfless commitment changed hearts, lives and inspired millions throughout the world. THE LETTERS, as told through personal letters she wrote over the last 40 years of her life, reveal a troubled and vulnerable woman who grew to feel an isolation and an abandonment by God. The story is told from the point of view of a Vatican priest charged with the task of investigating acts and events following her death. He recounts her life’s work, her political oppression, her religious zeal and her unbreakable spirit. Written and directed by William Riead, THE LETTERS stars the acclaimed four-time BAFTA nominated British Actress Juliet Stevenson as Mother Teresa in a transformational performance that spans over 50 years, Academy Award Nominee Max Van Sydow and Golden Globe winner Rutger Hauer. The film was executive produced by Corky Barton and Lourden Saks and produced by William Riead, Lisa Riead and Tony Cordeaux. Thank you to all of you that attended today’s meeting. The topic of discussion was “Technology: Its evolution and Future,” our presenter was Johnny. Below were some of the discussion questions 1. So what holds for technology in the Future? 2. How are we improving technology ? 3. How do you think technology has improved? Thank you Johnny for a well prepared, engaging, and creative presentation. We had a special guest in Mar, an Idente Missionary from Spain at our meeting. She spoke briefly about IY in Spain. Last Sunday our Idente Youth in the Bronx had a very successful bake sale for our Idente Youth summer camp! We thank all of our Idente Youth members and their families for their donations of baked goods. We also thank each of our parishioners for their generous donations. All the proceeds raised will go toward our youth group and summer camp. Thanks to your generous donations, many teens and kids will enjoy a great summer camp. Stay tuned for photos of our camp in July! Thanks again! God bless you. The summer Camp is going to start on July 12 and finishes on July 16.. Thank you so much!!!Hey Friends, Thank you to all of you that made it to today’s IY meeting. The topic of discussion was “Time Management.” We had a great time doing the fun group activities prepared by Nathalie related to time management. Below were some of the items touched upon in the presentation How can I manage time better: 1. Make a to-do list every day. 2. Keep your work with you. 3. Don’t be afraid to say NO. 4. Find your productive time. 5. Create a dedicated study time. 6. Budget your time. 7. Don’t get side-tracked. 8. Get a good night’s sleep. We also discussed about our upcoming fundraiser- CAR WASH 8:30am to 2:30pm on Sun, Jun 26. Please keep yourself free on this day to help IY raise money for the summer camp. Please have your family and friends get their cars to our CAR WASH. Our next IY meeting is 10am Sat, Jun 25 at the Lower rectory. On June 16th, IY kids in the Bronx showed a film titled "Children of Heaven", filmed in Iran, that continued with our monthly theme on Giving and Helping others. This movie was jam packed with daily examples of how a young poor boy tries to help his younger sister after having lost her only pair of shoes. The sacrifices he goes through develops into a very interesting drama! Don't forget to join us next session to watch the end of this fascinating film. At the end of the meeting the children were encouraged to participate in the annual Idente Youth Summer Camp with the demonstration of some of the pictures from the last year summer camp. Once again thanks to all the kids who gave extraordinary reflection on the movie to all the kids. |
